It's the end of the week, so here's the usual.
First up we've the start of volume four of Azarak. This is perhaps the single weirdest chapter in all of Azarak, and honestly feels more like a string of non sequiturs than anything. I've honestly no idea what the intention behind the chapter was, and a look over the net shows that the Japanese don't really either.
And then we've something a bit more straightforward in Youkai.

ReplyDeleteI mean don't all of the Eko Eko Azarak chapters this far have been practically oneshots? this one may have been weird but is one of the better ones, and it has the common elements of Misa sticking her nose on someone else business, then being punched in the face, then seeking revenge, granted the last part didn't happen this time, but is not like consistency is the name of this manga, Misa's background, personality, motivations, and the strength of her powers, change as much as she changes schools, if not more.

But most chapters at least have some general occultic theme to them (e.g. 34 being based upon everyone's favourite Wiccan figure Gerald Gardner), whereas 31 just kinda jumps all over the place and concludes with some obscure, seemingly forgotten tidbit about people with three eyes.
