Somali to Mori no Kami-sama Ch. 3

Meant to get this out a lot earlier but the new patch in Final Fantasy XIV hit and that's apparently an anathema to me being productive.

Still, here's the much awaited third chapter of Somali. As you should be able to gather from the title, chapter four is a direct continuation of it.

The next proper release should be Survival (though not necessarily the next post on the blog...). I'm actually making decent progress on some new series as well, so you might see some of those this side of the next decade.

Survival Ch. 8

Well this was a struggle. For some reason this chapter of Survival was a whole 67 pages, on top of being filled to the brim with random topics from bears to Japanese anti-rat devices. In short it wasn't a lot of fun to get done.

I've no idea quite why it was so long. I'd assume that it was originally published as two chapters which were later merged together when put into a volume, but I've no spare copies of Shounen Sunday from the 1960s to check. The best part is that some later chapters are even longer (I think the longest is something like 120 pages) so there's even more joy ahead. For now though this one at least is sorted.

Moving on from Survival I've a few other things I'm slowly working on, but I don't think they'll be done any time soon. I've also been doing some touch ups (e.g. minor spelling, editing, translation fixes) to some of my older uploads. As of such I've removed the direct links on older blog posts of mine, as well as adding a link to my downloads folder on the front page of the blog, to save me continuously fixing up old links.

Next up should be Somali. The raws for Getter have also popped up from the looks of it up so I should probably get that done too. Maybe there'll also be something new in store on top of all that.

Getter Robo Devolution: Uchuu Saigo no 3-punkan Ch. 2

So here's chapter two of Getter, in which we get Hayato's introduction. Oddly enough it's set chronologically before chapter one, though it makes sense why when reading it.

The release itself is plagued by a lot of issues relating to the lighting (lots of dark outlines on dark backgrounds!). There's not a lot I can do about it however with my ever limited editing skills. When the volume is released I'd like to update the releases with (presumably) better scans from it (as well no doubt sitting and wondering why the hell I'd translate it the way I did), but that'll be a good however many months away I'm afraid.

That aside, I did enjoy the chapter (even if it had a distinct lack of much happening). I found Hayato's modernised backstory to be quite fitting, and there are a couple of little nods (one to another character from the series, one towards the direction which the series is presumably taking) which I found amusing, alongside the changes to the story itself,

Chapter three for this actually released a couple of days ago (and as one might expect, it looks like it'll introduce Musashi) but no raws have popped up for it yet. Next up though will be your usual dosage of Survival, though it's double the length of a normal chapter so it may be a while.

Survival Ch. 7

Alright so first a bit of news, Cestvs is dropped. The previous group let me know that they are in fact still working on it, so you can look forward to their releases instead of mine.

In place of Cestvs then I've chapter seven of Survival. I found it a fairly amusing chapter overall, the ending especially is rather novel. Were we going off of the original volumes it'd also mark both the end of the first volume, and the start of the second (as the chapter itself is seemingly split across the two volumes).

Looking forwards I've not yet decided what should replace Cestvs. There's a bunch of things I'd like to do of course, but I've not gotten around to starting any proper work yet (there's one thing in particular I was tempted by, but I've no raws for). Given that Heavenly Island should be back soon too it may make more sense not to start on anything else until that is all sorted.

We shall see though, for now, enjoy Survival.

Getter Robo Devolution: Uchuu Saigo no 3-punkan Ch. 1 & Survival Ch. 6

We've a double release this time. Survival was sort of short so figured I might as well stick a chapter of Getter alongside it. It probably wasn't the smartest of choices, but such is life.

To start with then, we have the first proper chapter of Getter. Even if you're a horrid manga fan, like my QC, and have never read the original series, you can probably guess that it's a fairly modernized take on the series (no dinosaurs here!).

As far as I'm aware it's still only up to chapter two in Japan, so I might actually catch up to something if I'm quick with the next release.

Alongside that we also have chapter six of Survival, where we see the conclusion of the mushroom saga.

It's fairly short, but I must've spent twice the normal time I do on a chapter just looking up the name of one of the damn mushrooms.

Kentou Ankokuden Cestvs Ch. XII

As promised here's chapter XII of Cestvs, now with far more historical information dumps.

This actually marks the halfway point of the second volume. I'll hopefully be onto the third volume come the start of March (at the latest), though as ever we'll see how things go.

In other news I finally got around to purchasing a bunch of manga volumes which I'd been after. Amongst them was another copy of Hataraku Saibou, so with any luck I'll soon have some scans for it which aren't total shit. The bad news is that it'll take a while for them to arrive, so you won't be seeing any wacky cell adventures for a few weeks at least.

That aside, next up will be Survival, or maybe Getter.
