And thus it ends. After five volumes, 50 chapters and who knows how many wasted months spent on hiatus we've at least reached the finale of Heavenly Island.
While I won't ever claim that it was a horror masterpiece or anything it was certainly a series which amused me and I'm glad to have been able to see it through to the end. As a die hard Resident Evil fan it was also nice to actually see Claire in something for a change, what with Capcom seemingly wanting to give up on the old cast and all.
Looking back it's quite amusing to think that the second series which I started should end up being the second one I actually manga to finish (no Another Story doesn't count). If nothing else it's proven a good learning experience, and it's quite scary comparing earlier chapters to my current releases. I wouldn't mind at some point redoing the whole lot, but that's the sort of low priority thing which can wait for another time.
Having finished one long standing project the question may be asked as to what I plan to do next. The answer is, well, nothing. As it stands I've a good 60~ volume backlog anyway (not counting the series which I help other groups out on) so I don't imagine I'll be starting anything lengthy for some time. I also don't intend on doing the Marhawa Desire either so you needn't ask for that.
At any rate major thanks to my editor, Nady, for doing most of the hard work on the final three volumes and to elemhunter for helping with the digital raws. If you enjoyed the series and wanted to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak, then you can easily import the volumes via somewhere like Amazon, or get digital copies from sites like eBookJapan.
