Another day, another long absent project returning from the dead. Yes after much faffing around Chainsaw is back with its final chapter. Way back when with the release of chapter 12 I actually said I'd be getting this one out faster, and it was honestly just missing a few final edits for most of the last nine months, but something of a spiritual crisis alongside the same lack of urgency I felt with Cestvs meant I didn't get around to it until now. Oh well, what's done is done.
From the outset then I never really figured reflesh was going to be a super long serialisation, yet I must admit two volumes was probably cutting it a bit short. While it offers a nicer ending overall, and it is always great to see characters from one of your favourite series back again, I would say developments were rather rapid (by comparison each arc in the original averaged around four volumes). Truth be told I still figure it was meant more as a tie in to the new films (it ended around the same time they got home releases) but that's purely speculation on my part.
At any rate Mikamoto hasn't announced anything since but this isn't too unusual, most authors tend to go a few years between major works (there was over a year between Satanister and Chainsaw for instance), and he did give a brief, non-answer to someone saying they were looking forward to his next work on Twitter. We can but wait and see.
As ever thanks go to my long suffering editor, Nady, and to elemhunter for getting some of the Comic Beam issues. If you liked the series you can pick it up physically from places like Amazon, and digitally from sites like eBookJapan.
Oh, and here's some more Tani too.
